PFLAG Athens Area Events

October 23, 2025 LGBTQ+ Youth group, Young Adult, and Parent/ally discussion group

October 23 2025 (Thursday) 6:30-8:00 p.m. Please complete our form to receive information about location! 

In partnership with Athens Pride Queer Collective, PFLAG Athens Area will host three different groups- 1) Parents/Allies/Community Members, 2) LGBTQIA+ Young Adults (18 yrs.-30), and 3) LGBTQIA+ youth group. We will meet separately from the youth group to have a free and open conversation between family members, parents, individuals, and LGBTQ+ allies. All are welcome, especially those new to PFLAG. No fee to attend.

The young adult group encourages participants to come dressed in costumes for Halloween or take a risk and come dressed in a new way for you. 

 

These are our last groups for the 2025 year. We are not hosting groups during November or December for holiday breaks. If we decide to have a pop-up get-together, we will send the word out.

WALK with PFLAG Athens Area- PRIDE FEST in Athens GA June 7th, 2025

Okay, now is your chance. You know you have always wanted to walk in a parade downtown. Walk with PFLAG Athens Area in the PrideFest parade on June 7th in the later afternoon. The parade is scheduled for 5-5:30 p.m. We hope that it will be slightly cooler (maybe!). The downtown Pridefest festival booths will be open from 3:00-9:00 p.m. The festival will be in downtown Athens in front of Ted’s Most Best and the 40 watt (254 W Washington St). The roads will be closed so park outside of this area or in a nearby parking deck.
RSVP now to let us know you are a walker with PFLAG. We accept anyone who wants to walk in support of LGBTQIA2S+ rights. Allies, parents, grandparents, siblings, kids, LGBTQ+ people. All are welcome. PFLAG sends a message of loving, but fierce solidarity to our community. Join us. No fees to participate. There are PFLAG t-shirts if you want to wear one, but any pride apparel is fine! We will have flags to hand out, candy to hand out (no throwing!), and bubbles to blow. Bring your large flags if you wish to wave in the air. The rules call for no nudity so please be mindful of the large number of kids in attendance.

June 13, 2025 Book Tour with Rev. Brandan Robertson 6 p.m.

PFLAG Athens Area is honored to welcome Rev. Brandan Robertson for a special event as part of the Queer & Christian Book Tour. This gathering will feature a moderated discussion with Brandan about his new book, Queer & Christian: Reclaiming Our Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table, followed by a book signing.

Brandan Robertson is a nationally recognized author, public theologian, and advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion in faith communities. His work has been featured in major media outlets, and his writing and teaching have helped countless people navigate the intersections of faith, identity, and belonging.

In Queer & Christian, Brandan offers a powerful call for LGBTQ+ Christians to reclaim their faith and take their place in the church and society. Through personal stories, biblical insights, and theological reflection, the book challenges exclusionary interpretations of scripture and invites readers into a more expansive and inclusive vision of faith.

This event is open to all and will be a space for meaningful conversation and connection.
