About Us
PFLAG was founded in 1973 as the nation’s largest family and ally organization for LGBTQIA+ people. PFLAG has 400 chapters and 200,000 supporters in all 50 states. PFLAG National, located in Washington, D.C., has a national board of directors and 13 regional directors. Georgia has several PFLAG chapters (i.e., Atlanta, Johns Creek, Blairsville, Columbus, Gainesville, Brunswick, etc.). What is PFLAG?
Our Vision and Mission
PFLAG is creating a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. We envision a world where intersectional diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual development (intersex variation), sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
Our local PFLAG Athens Area group meets monthly–to talk, support each other, support our family members, and advocate for them and other queer people in Athens and surrounding counties. For more about PFLAG national, click here.
